What is a floating license?
A floating license is a license with a certain number of seats (users/devices) deployed by installing a server on a computer in your local network. Any device with access to this computer through the network will be able to acquire a license lease to use the application. When a user on a computer stops using the application, the lease is automatically released to the pool of licenses operated by the server. For example, if you purchase a floating server with a pool of 20 leases, you can have up to 20 users on 20 different computers using the application at the same time.
Can I install the floating server on a virtual machine?
We do not allow floating servers to be installed on virtual machines, however leases can be obtained on computers using a virtual machine.
I purchased an Autograph Studio floating license, how can I use the Autograph Render licenses that come with it?
The floating server can only distribute leases for one application at a time. You will need to run two separate instances of the floating server to distribute leases for both Autograph Studio and Autograph Render. Each Autograph Studio lease comes with 2 Autograph Render leases. For example, if you purchased 20 leases with your floating license, you will be able to use 40 Autograph Render leases simultaneously.
Can I adjust the number of seats at any time?
You can add new seats to your floating license server at any time. New seats will be available right away as soon as your payment is received. We do not offer the possibility to remove seats on your license. Note that you can cancel your current subscription, but your existing floating server remains active until the end of the billing period.
